MyoMovement Standard Program

Adults and Children Ages 8+ yrs

Initial online/phone screening, 15 min – Free

This initial online or phone screening is helpful to give potential patients information to take the next step, answer initial questions and begin to understand their symptoms and concerns. This screening is available to everyone; however, is not required prior to scheduling a comprehensive exam.

Comprehensive exam consultation/Initial intake appt, 90 min

The initial patient intake visit will include a comprehensive evaluation and examination of your oral function (including the muscles of your face, mouth, throat, and airway) along with a functional evaluation of any tethered oral tissue findings (lip, cheek, tongue ties) . You can expect initial photographs and/or videos, measurements if indicated, documentation of certain movements, an in-depth evaluation of your concerns and conditions, and a brief description of your preliminary treatment plan and ideal outcomes. We will also discuss the cost and estimated length of your treatment needs. Most treatments range between 12-15 appointments for approximately 6-9 months; however, your therapist will discuss your personalized needs and expectations if additional sessions may be indicated.

Anticipate spending approximately 75-90 minutes for this examination. Once committed, the therapy program includes your personalized MyoMovement Kit you will use for your exercises during and between therapy visits. If recommended by your therapist, a MyoMunchee device may be purchased and utilized during and after your therapy program. If you are in the Charlotte metro area, we typically recommend in-person comprehensive exams. We may be able meet your needs virtually through a TeleHealth visit, if necessary. If you are not in the Charlotte area, we may be able to complete a fully-virtual therapy program, or we are happy to refer out to a local myofunctional therapist to suit your treatment needs.

Please budget for an initial visit fee of $190, which will be collected at the time of service.

Ongoing Therapy Session, 30-45 min

Follow-up therapy sessions will be online via video telehealth to allow you easier access to care in your own home/office. Because we meet so frequently, it helps alleviate any stress of additional travel time to and from an office space. Follow-up therapy sessions may be scheduled in-person at the availability of the therapist. Unless otherwise specified during your comprehensive exam, you can expect therapy sessions to last approximately 30-45 minutes every 2 weeks for approximately 6-9 months, depending on your recommendations. Time between sessions may vary between patients (typically every 2-4 weeks is ideal).

Once committed to therapy, the program includes your personalized MyoMovement MyoKit you will use for your exercises during and between therapy visits. If recommended by your therapist, a MyoMunchee device may be purchased and utilized during and after your therapy program. Pre- and post- release exercises and preparation is included in therapy, if recommended. Habit elimination, if necessary, is typically addressed after the first three goals of therapy are in progress or met. Additional and/or follow-up sessions post-treatment completion will be added based on need.

Please keep in mind that coordination with other dental/medical professionals may be necessary for optimal outcomes of treatment.

It will be necessary for you to do daily physical therapy types of exercises during treatment to achieve optimal results.

Payment Options

At MyoMovement, we provide a variety of payment choices to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder our patients from receiving the necessary treatment. We believe that by giving our patients the confidence and ease to make informed healthcare and expense decisions, we can enhance the quality of care and value of treatment received.

MyoMovement operates as a fee-for-service business. We will provide patients with a superbill upon request, which they can submit to their insurance provider for potential reimbursement. It's important to note that we cannot guarantee payment from dental or medical insurance. At this time, they typically do not cover the expenses associated with Myofunctional Therapy, but we do accept payments from Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA). We have the hope that as Myofunctional Therapy becomes more recognized as a valuable, effective, and successful treatment method, insurance companies will broaden their coverage.

Please be aware that the cost of consultation is separate from the overall therapy program expense.
