At MyoMovement, our approach revolves around personalized, evidence-based Myofunctional Therapy. We begin by conducting a comprehensive functional assessment to identify individual oral challenges and specific needs. With a deep understanding of each client's unique situation, our specialty-trained therapist designs tailored treatment plans that target the correction of improper oral habits and swallowing patterns. Through a series of specialized exercises and techniques, we focus on strengthening and coordinating facial muscles to foster improved facial development, overall oral function, and improved breathing. What to Expect

Free Initial Phone Call/Online Screening - This screening is helpful to give potential patients unfamiliar with Myofunctional Therapy the information to take the next step, answer initial questions, and begin to understand their symptoms and concerns. Initial Screening is offered to everyone, but not required to schedule the Comprehensive Exam.

Comprehensive Functional Exam/Initial Intake Appointment -   The initial patient intake visit will include a comprehensive evaluation and examination of the muscles of your face, mouth, throat, and airway. This appointment is preferably in-person. You can expect initial photographs and/or videos, measurements and documentation of certain movements, an in-depth evaluation of your concerns and conditions, and a brief description of your preliminary treatment plan and ideal outcomes. We  will also discuss the cost and estimated length of your treatment needs. Most treatments range between 12-15 appointments for approximately 6-9 months; however, your therapist will discuss your personalized needs and expectations if additional sessions may be indicated.  Anticipate spending approximately 75-90 minutes for this examination. Please budget for an initial visit fee of $190, which will be collected at the time of service.

Ongoing Therapy Sessions - Follow-up therapy sessions will be in person or virtual to allow you easier access to care in your own home/office. Unless otherwise specified during your comprehensive exam, you can expect therapy sessions to last approximately 30-45 minutes every 2 weeks for approximately 6-9 months, depending on your recommendations. Time between sessions may vary between patients (typically every 2-4 weeks is ideal). Additional and/or follow-up sessions post-treatment completion will be added based on need.

It will be necessary for you to do daily physical therapy types of exercises during treatment to achieve optimal results. Upon scheduling your therapy program, you will receive your personalized MyoMovement Kit you will use for your exercises during and between therapy visits. If recommended during treatment, you may be encouraged to utilize a MyoMunchee device to help your therapy towards optimal results.

Please keep in mind that coordination with other dental or medical professionals may be necessary for optimal outcomes of treatment. Our practice believes in using a multi-disciplinary approach to enhance the well-being of our patients.

After introducing and reviewing your custom exercises during each of our sessions, we utilize a free to patient app, PhysiApp, so you can access your exercises and additional information at anytime. PhysiApp lets you complete your prescribed therapies by having access to videos of the recommended exercises - now your therapist is always with you between sessions!

PhysiApp is completely free to download from the App store and Google Play store or can be accessed via your browser. You may also utilize built-in reminders help you to stay on track towards a better you!
